Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset, has received an update on Boots’ plans for mitigation of the increased pressure on Easton Pharmacy, Portland, following the closure of Boots, Fortuneswell.
After a meeting with members of the Boots regional management team last week, Drax has received a follow up from Boots’ head of public affairs, David Leach, regarding the company’s plans.
“The closure of the Fortuneswell pharmacy in February has caused great local concern,” says Drax. “Not only are the elderly and infirm further away from their prescriptions; they quite literally have a mountain to climb up to Easton to get them fulfilled.”
“I am pleased to see that Boots has moved existing Fortuneswell staff to the Easton pharmacy, so that services and healthcare are continued by familiar faces. They also assure me that they will set up home delivery where needed and that the close liaison with local GPs will be maintained.”
“Boots has adjusted the layout at Easton to give more working space for staff and waiting space for customers. They are working to minimize queues and waiting times and assure me that the store has enough resources to, ‘maintain consistently good service levels.’”
“For those who are sufficiently technology abled, they also have a Boots App and text message service.”
“I am grateful to Boots for their efforts and hope they will prove sufficient after the regrettable closure of their other pharmacy. Suffice to say, I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates for my constituents.”
